MSI has just unveiled its new feature-packed X299 motherboard. The company’s flagship motherboard is called X299 Xpower Gaming AC. According to MSI, this motherboard is specifically designed for hardcore overclockers and PC enthusiasts who demand the highest possible performance out of their X299 motherboard.
That said, the “monstrous” capabilities of MSI X299 XPower Gaming AC motherboard aren’t quite reflected on its overall aesthetics. In fact, MSI has chosen to go with the “safe” all black colour scheme for its new flagship motherboard. Despite this, there are a few “flamboyant” elements present, namely, RGB-lit areas and a very interesting heatsink design – it almost looks like Iron Man’s “Arc Reactor.”
Aesthetics aside, the MSI X299 XPower Gaming AC does come with a few useful features. For instance, the motherboard is equipped with a 14 phase power design, which increases its overclocking capabilities. Besides that, MSI has also introduced its M.2 Shiel FROZR technology on its newest motherboard, which the company claims will be able to reduce thermal throttling on M.2 SSDs.
Speaking of which, the X299 Xpower Gaming AC is fitted with five M.2 slots as well. This motherboard also comes with eight RAM slots which supports quad channel DDR4 memory with frequencies of 4133MHz+. Dual channel DDR4 memory support is also available (4500MHz+). Expansion slots include four PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and one PCIe 3.0 x1 slot.
Unfortunately, MSI has not mentioned the local pricing and date of availability of its X299 XPower Gaming AC motherboard. Despite this, given the fact that it’s a flagship motherboard, we do expect the X299 XPower Gaming AC to come with a rather hefty price tag.
