It looks like graphics card makers are becoming more and more aware of the immense demand for cryptocurrency mining-oriented cards. Biostar is the latest manufacturer to introduce a graphics card made specifically for this purpose. The company’s newest graphics card is called the “RX 470D.”
There are, of course, some stark differences between Biostar’s RX 470D and the original Radeon RX 470 graphics card. For example, the Radeon RX 470 comes with 2048 stream processors; the RX 470D only has 1792. Besides that, the Biostar RX 470D also features a higher memory frequency of 7000MHz, which is 1000MHz more than the RX 470.
Interestingly, despite being made specifically for the cryptocurrency mining market, the Biostar RX 470D graphics card is still fitted with display output ports. That aside, we recently wrote an article about AMD’s plans to debut the RX 560D graphics card. It seems that the “D” suffix on both the RX 560D and RX 470D may likely indicate that they are mining-specific graphics cards.
Biostar has, unfortunately, made no mention about the release date and pricing for the RX 470D graphics card. It’s also not known whether Biostar intends to make this graphics card available in Malaysia. Biostar’s competitor, Asus, has recently announced that its mining-based graphics cards won’t be coming to Malaysia.
