Another smartphone player has announced its arrival in Malaysia. Meet General Mobile, an AndroidOne partner that’s hoping to entice Malaysians with the promise of an affordable, pure Android smartphone.
To kick things off, General Mobile is introducing one smartphone for the Malaysian market: the GM 5 Plus. It’s a mid-range smartphone that is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.
Besides that, the GM 5 Plus features a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display protected by Gorilla Glass 4, and the 3,100mAh battery has fast charging capabilities called GM Turbo Charge. It also uses a USB Type C port. Finally, the device packs a 13MP Sony IMX258 rear camera sensor, and a 13MP front facing shooter.
And, being an AndroidOne device, the GM 5 Plus runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with zero skins on top.
General Mobile has appointed KWS Distribution as the sold distributor for the Malaysian market. The General Mobile GM 5 Plus will be available from mid-July 2017, at a retail price of RM899.
