The iPhone 5s may be a four-year-old device now, but believe it or not, there are still folks who want to get their hands on the 2013 smartphone. Well, they can now get the iPhone 5s for only RM999, making it the most affordable “brand new” iPhone in the Malaysian market.
This permanent price drop comes courtesy of Machines, one of the more well-known official Apple resellers in Malaysia. According to the company, the 16GB iPhone 5s originally goes for RM1,188; this is effectively a RM189 price drop.
Interestingly, Machines is the only Apple reseller that is selling the iPhone 5s at this price point. Granted, it’s a four-year-old smartphone, but it’s worth noting that the 5s can still be updated to iOS 11 later this year; that’s a pretty long software support for any given smartphone.
In terms of specifications, the iPhone 5s isn’t exactly a powerhouse. It comes with a 4-inch 1136 x 640 IPS display, an Apple A7 dual-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of non-expandable storage, as well as a 1,560mAh battery. It also features an 8MP rear camera and a 1.2MP front-facing shooter.
The iPhone 5s can now be purchased for RM999 at all Machines outlets nationwide. Alternatively, the iPhone 5s is also available on Machines’ online store; both the Space Grey and Silver models are currently in stock at the time of this writing.
