Spotify recently introduced a new Group Playlists for Messenger, a new feature that allow friends to create and build a Spotify playlist together via Facebook Messenger. With this feature, users on Facebook messenger can collaborate to build their perfect mix, be it for parties, road trips, or simply collecting new favourites.
This is not the first time Spotify is collaborating with Facebook on Messenger. Users have been able to share Spotify songs through Messenger since early last year, but with this new feature, users can build a playlist together instead of just sharing a playlist they curated individually.
To share and build a playlist together with friends, simply open a chat with a single or a group of friends. Tap on the “+” sign, and select Spotify located under Extensions. From there, you can create Group Playlists, and build your favourite music together. Once enabled, you and your friends will be able to add songs directly to the playlist through the Spotify Chat Extension, even if they are not on Spotify. Of course, to listen to the full song, the user must have a Spotify account.
