Back at Computex 2017, Asus did not unveil any successor to its range of ZenFone 3 devices, which were introduced at the very same event in 2016. Well, the Taiwanese company may be waiting for the right time to announce its latest smartphones: a particularly interesting Asus phone has just been registered with SIRIM.
In SIRIM’s database, Dynamics Distribution and ECS ASTAR registered a device with the model number ZC554KL. Many believe that this is the Asus ZenFone 4 Max, which has been rumoured for quite some time now.
Much like its predecessor, the ZenFone 4 Max is said to be packing a 5.5-inch display, although its resolution is slightly lower at 1280 x 720. Aside from that, rumours are also suggesting that the unannounced device will be packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 series chipset.
Beyond these details, however, not much else is known about the ZenFone 4 Max. But judging by its predecessor, it will likely be a mid-range smartphone with long battery life; that’s one of the major selling points of Asus’ “Max” devices.
The Asus ZenFone 4 Max is expected to be officially unveiled sometime next month in July 2017. Chances are, it will be introduced alongside Asus’ other smartphones, which should include the Asus ZenFone 4 too – no, not the one that was launched back in 2014.
