Microsoft’s new Modern keyboard looks like something that should get more attention. Largely because it manages to slip a fingerprint reader in between the right ALT and CTRL keys, but also because it looks really good.
The Microsoft Modern keyboard is a wireless peripheral featuring an aluminium frame. There’s the option to use it as a wired device in the event that you don’t want to worry about changing the AAA battery on a regular basis. It’s always odd to see non-rechargeable batteries these days.
There’s little else to say about the keyboard, especially since Microsoft has not made an official announcements. It runs on Bluetooth 4.0 and will pair with any compatible device. That said, there’s no telling if the fingerprint reader will be able to work on non-Windows devices.

A new Microsoft Modern mouse has also been revealed. There’s nothing else about it, other than its a wireless mouse with a metal mousewheel.

Microsoft is set to sell the Modern keyboard for $130 and the mouse for $50. There’s no telling when these will be out on the market, but it shouldn’t be long from now. Whether they will appear in Malaysia is a completely different story.
