Asus has officially launched its updated line of Vivobooks and Zenbooks here in Malaysia. The designs, which were first revealed at Computex 2017, feature new hardware while keeping mobility in mind.
The Zenbook series covers the Flip S, 3 Deluxe, and Pro. Asus is bringing in the Zenbook Flip S with 8GB RAM, Intel Core i7-7500U, with 512GB SSD for RM6699. This includes the touch display and Asus Pen. It should be noted that this is the FHD version of the Flip S, and nothing has been said about the potential availability of the 4K display variant.
On the other hand ,the premium Zenbook 3 Deluxe will have one SKU; that being an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. All this will be sold for RM8299.
Finally, the Zenbook Pro stands as the work-focused model in the series at RM7299. It features 16GB RAM, an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, 512GB SSD, and a GTX 1050 graphics card with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM. It looks like the variant with the 1050 Ti GPU will not be making an appearance in the country.
On the other hand, there is the productivity minded Vivobook series. The Vivobook Pro comes in two versions, and pairs either an Intel Core i7 or i5 processor with 16GB RAM; and an Intel Optane caching module for improved performance. Graphics come in the form of the choice of an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 card. There’s also hybrid storage 512GB SSD with a 2TB HDD. It starts from RM3999, but expect that variant to be the bare bones version.
It’s less powerful cousin is the Vivobook S comes in two models. The Intel Core i7-7500U processor paired with a GeForce 940MX and 4GB RAM will be sold for RM3699. While the memory is relatively low, it still has hybrid storage of a 128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD.
The second version of the VivoBook S is the budget version with an Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB RAM. It also retains the GeForce 940MX, but drops the hybrid storage in favour of a single 1TB HDD.
Asus has not explained when these models will be appearing on the market. The release schedule is spread over the next couple of months, but all options should be available by the end of July.
Update: The Asus Zenbook 3 Deluxe is already on sale, while the other models are scheduled to appear in stores in early August. The Vivobook S15 will appear in early July.
