Commenting on Facebook posts have just gotten a lot more fun. To celebrate 30 years of the GIF, Facebook is rolling out its GIFs in Facebook comments feature to everyone. The social networking company started testing this feature about three months ago.
Available now, you will see a new GIF button on Facebook comments. Tap onto that, and you can select from a huge collection of GIFs from various services like Giphy, and more. Sure, we have been using GIFs on Facebook for a while now, but with this new feature, you no longer have to enter the URL of a GIF because everything is built right in.
There’s no denying that everybody love GIFs; what better way to express yourself than with an animated image? Facebook first rolled out GIFs in Messenger in 2015. Just last year alone, people on Messenger sent nearly 13 million GIFs; that’s nearly 25,000 GIFs per minute. GIFs sent on Messenger have tripled in the past year, and New Year’s Day 2017 was the most popular day ever for GIFs sent on Messenger.
In conjunction with the new GIFs in Facebook comments feature, Facebook is also rolling some new and exclusive GIFs they’ve created featuring some of the internet’s biggest stars. Just search for #GIFParty when sharing a GIF on Facebook or Messenger, or check out Giphy.com/Facebook for more.
