Uncharted 4 marks the end of Nathan Drake’s adventure, but it’s not exactly the end of the franchise itself. Naughty Dog’s upcoming spin-off of the series, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, shows just that.
Not only is this the first Uncharted title to not star Drake himself, it’s also potentially a full-blown Uncharted game. Here at E3 2017, we got a look at a live gameplay showcase of the game that’s not available to the public, and in short…we’re left pretty impressed.
The Lost Legacy stars Chloe Frazer, who is partnering with Nadine Ross – a new character introduced in Uncharted 4 – to track down the Tusk of Ganesh. Taking place about a year after the events of Uncharted 4, we were told that The Lost Legacy will focus on Chloe and Nadine’s struggle to trust each other – among other things – as the game progresses.
Backstory aside, we had the opportunity to take a look at a live gameplay demo of a particular section of The Lost Legacy. Not surprisingly, it plays a lot like Uncharted 4: Chloe can use her grappling hook to swing from one area to another, the combat system is more or less the same, and the stealth mechanic is retained as well.
While we were watching the live gameplay demo of The Lost Legacy, what stood out the most to us was the fact that it’s almost indistinguishable from Uncharted 4. The graphics look gorgeous, action sequences are pulled off very well, the gameplay mechanics look to be the same – with some improvements done here and there too, such as Chloe and Nadine’s interactions when taking down enemies together – and the sheer polish of the short gameplay demo really shows Naughty Dog’s commitment to make The Lost Legacy a compelling Uncharted game.
Naughty Dog did not detail much on the length of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, but based on what we’ve seen from the game’s live gameplay demo and previous comments from the developer, we reckon it will be pretty lengthy title. The Lost Legacy isn’t merely a DLC or expansion of Uncharted 4, but rather, it’s potentially a true Uncharted game on its own.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is set to arrive on 22 August 2017. The physical copy of the game will go for RM159 in Malaysia, while the digital version retails at RM149.
