Backing up your files on Google is about to get a whole lot easier. Google just announced a new Backup and Sync tool that can help everyday users back up files and photos from their computer so that they can be accessed anywhere.
Backup and Sync is the latest version of Google Drive that is largely similar to the standard Google Drive and Google Photos Backup tools. However, instead of just backing up individual files onto Google Drive, you can backup an entire folder such as your desktop, documents, and even photos using a single app.
To be available on 28 June 2017, Google says that Backup and Sync is primarily intended for consumer users, while G Suite users are recommended to continue to use Drive for Mac and PC.
If you constantly travel around and use different devices, this is a great way to keep everything synced. Sadly though, Google only offers 15GB of free storage, which can be used up pretty quickly, especially if you backup full resolution pictures. However, if you are serious about storing your data in the cloud, additional storage space on Google is one of the most affordable starting from RM8.49 a month (or RM84.99/year) for 100GB, all the way to RM85.99/month for 2TB.
Google Backup and Sync will be available for download starting on 28 June 2017, and is available to all end users.
