Logitech has announced what is likely to be the best application of wireless charging thus far. The Powerplay system hides an inductive charging system beneath a mousepad, allowing a wireless mouse to practically have an infinite battery charge.
In addition to the charging, the Powerplay mat also includes what Logitech is calling its Lightspeed wireless technology. What it does is reduce the response time of the wireless mouse down to 1ms; and boost the signal strength up to 12dB. The company is not saying how this is being achieved, but it is likely something to do with the mouse transmitter now sitting on top of a giant receiver.
Utilising these new technologies are the Logitech G903 Lightspeed and G703 Lightspeed. Both are wireless mice that make the most of the Powerplay mat. However, what is interesting is that the wireless induction charging is not built into the devices. Instead, Logitech has the user replace the removable cover for the weights with a receiver.
That said, none of this comes cheap. The Logitech Powerplay Wireless Charging System is set to be released in August 2017 for $99.99 (about RM425). While the G903 and G703 will be made available this month for $149.99 (about RM640) and $99.99 (about RM425), respectively.
