Intel has announced that pre-orders for its upcoming Core X-series processors will begin on 19 June. The announcement was made during the company’s first ever E3 press event. For those who are unaware: Intel’s Core X-series consists of nine different processors, featuring Core i5, Core i7, and the new Core i9 family of CPUs.
Interestingly, Intel has also announced that its four, six, eight, and ten-core Core X-series processors will be made available by the end of June in selected regions. These CPUs are the Core i5-7640X, Core i7-7740X, Core i7-7800X, Core i7-7820X, and Core i9-7900X with prices that range from US$242 (about RM1,032) up to US$999 (around RM4,260).
In addition to that, the 12-core Core i9-7920X will be made available to consumers around August for US$1,119 (approximately RM4,772). It will then be followed by Intel’s highest-end 14, 16, and 18-core processors in October, with the most powerful CPU bearing a tear-jerking price of US$1,999 (about RM8,525).
Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see how well will Intel’s Core X family of processors do in the PC market, especially knowing how “expensive” most of them are. Besides that, we’re sure many of our readers would also like to know how these processors will stack up against AMD’s upcoming HEDT CPUs, which are slated for release in summer 2017. We’ll just have to wait and see.
