OnePlus has released a new teaser image for its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 5. While there’s still not much that can be told from teaser, we finally have a date for the phone’s launch: 20 June 2017.
The teaser is barely anything at all, with no shadow or silhouette of the OnePlus 5 – there is just the background of the sea and the words “focus on what matters”. This could indicate that the OnePlus 5’s camera is one of its unique selling points, and tally with a previous leak of the retail box, which revealed a dual-camera setup.
The company also confirmed that it is working closely with independent mobile imaging experts DxO to develop the OnePlus 5’s camera.
Otherwise, not much is yet known about the OnePlus 5’s hardware. There is a very high chance that the phone will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835; it is after all the top processor from Qualcomm this year. And since the OnePlus 3T already has 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, those are the minimum levels we can expect on the OnePlus 5.
In any case, the OnePlus 5 is shaping up to be a very interesting phone indeed. But will it dethrone the Samsung Galaxy S8 as the best 2017 flagship so far? We’ll find out on 20 June.
