It has been a rather happening Computex for Asus, and the Taiwanese company confirmed with us that it’ll be launching a slew of new products over the next two months in Malaysia. Chances are, we may see some of the products unveiled in Computex 2017 launch here; the Asus ZenFone AR could be introduced locally in July too.
According to Asus Malaysia, the company will be unveiling “Zen” products in the middle of this month as well as August 2017. Interestingly, Asus will also launch an “Augment” product in July next month. Chances are, this is hinting at the ZenFone AR; the second Android smartphone to pack Google’s Tango AR technology.
Previously, we were told by an Asus representative that the ZenFone AR was planned to be launched in Malaysia this month, but it appears Asus will be introducing the phone in July instead. Nonetheless, it’s better late than never; the ZenFone AR has appeared in SIRIM’s database too.
The ZenFone AR is a well-equipped high-end smartphone. It comes with a whopping 8GB RAM, a 5.7-inch 1440p Super AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, up to 256GB of fast UFS 2.0 storage – expandable with a microSD card – and a 3,300mAh battery. The ZenFone AR is also equipped with a 23MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation and an 8MP front-facing shooter.
It still remains to be seen just what kind of “Zen” product Asus Malaysia will be introducing later this month and in August. Hopefully, the Asus ZenBook Flip S will be one of them.
