A few days ago, AMD had shared more information about its upcoming highly anticipated Ryzen Threadripper CPUs. The red company also showcased, for the first time, an unspecified Threadripper CPU. But what the company didn’t show, was the CPU cooler for Threadripper, which we recently discovered is rather massive.
For those who are not aware: AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper is a massive processor. This is pretty evident when looking at the processor in person and looking at the massive CPU socket on several X399 motherboards. Noctua, on the other hand, has an equally large CPU cooler just for AMD’s upcoming HEDT CPUs.
One rather distinct feature about the Noctua CPU cooler was that it comes equipped with an insanely massive baseplate. This just goes to show how massive the Ryzen Threadripper CPU really is – imagine the amount of thermal paster that’s needed!
It’s worth noting, however, that the Noctua Cooler on display here is actually just a prototype. According to a Noctua representative, however, the final design of the cooler will indeed look pretty similar to the prototype variant; and yes, including the massive CPU baseplate. In addition, Noctua also mentioned that its Threadripper coolers will be made available around the same time as when AMD decides to release its HEDT processors.
