AMD has unveiled, for the first time, its rather small Ryzen Mobile APU during its Computex 2017 press event. Interestingly, the company also showcased a super slim convertible notebook that’s equipped with the Ryzen mobile APU. This, of course, indicates that AMD too has technologies that’ll allow its chips to be fitted onto slim notebooks.

For those who aren’t aware, AMD’s Ryzen mobile APU actually consists of two crucial features that make it rather impressive. First, the APU does, obviously, come fitted with the company’s Zen CPU core. Besides that, AMD has also equipped the its mobile APU with a Vega GPU as well, but its graphics performance was not demoed during the event.

AMD also mentioned that the Ryzen APU will also come with great power efficiency as well; this, of course, will allow notebooks to come with better battery life. It seems rather unlikely, however, that we’ll get to see Ryzen mobile APUs being fitted onto slim performance hungry behemoth notebooks like the recently announced ROG GL702ZC notebook – that one was fitted with a dedicated Ryzen 7 CPU and RX 500 series GPU.

AMD has stated that Ryzen Mobile APUs will be made available to consumers by the second half of 2017, and commercial release will be on the first half of 2017.
