One of the most noteworthy budget-minded smartphones, the Moto G5 Plus, is now in Malaysia. While the G5 Plus doesn’t offer the best price to performance ratio, it does feature several neat features brought from the Moto Z.
In terms of specifications, the Moto G5 Plus is comfortably a mid-range smartphone. It’s equipped with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, a 3,000mAh battery, and Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
In the camera department, Motorola says that the G5 Plus comes with the “most advanced camera in its class.” The device features a 12MP rear camera with a large f/1.7 aperture, which is said to offer 60% faster focusing compared to its predecessor. The G5 Plus’ front-facing camera, on the other hand, is a 5MP f/2.2 shooter.
What makes the G5 Plus particularly interesting for an affordable smartphone lies in its software. Among the features found on the Moto Z passed down to the G5 Plus is Moto Display, which we found to be one of the most useful lock screen notification systems as detailed in our Moto Z review.
The Moto G5 Plus is now available for pre-order in Malaysia exclusively on Lazada from today until 4 June 2017; those who pre-order will receive a 12-month extended warranty as well as a Moto Flip Case and screen protector. Retailing at RM1,299, the G5 Plus is not quite as affordable as other budget-minded smartphones in the market, but Moto’s software expertise may make it a worthwhile purchase.
