Getting notifications from your Facebook-owned apps is about to get a whole lot easier, or annoying for some. The social networking company is currently testing a feature that puts all your notifications from Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram under the main Facebook app.
The new feature is being tested on a small number of accounts. If you are one of those lucky few, you will see a new circle icon with your profile picture located on the top right corner of your Facebook app, replacing the previous Messenger icon. When you tap on that, Facebook will ask if you wish to check your notifications from Facebook, Messenger or Instagram.
Facebook says that this will make it easier for users to check all their notifications, and they wish that this could encourage users to stay on Facebook’s services longer. While it may seem annoying that all your notifications will be merged into a single app, it can be pretty useful too as it’ll get rid of all the unread alerts on each individual app.
This is not the first time Facebook is integrating its various services together. It already integrates Messenger notifications on its main app, and this update only adds in Instagram. Maybe in the future, the company might add WhatsApp in the list as well.
