After announcing the new Windows Mixed Reality Motion Controller, Microsoft has also revealed that it will be bundled with Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset. Coming to consumers later this year, the company has also announced the bundle’s price tag.
Specifically, it will be priced at USD 399 (about RM 1,735). As a comparison, similar HTC Vive bundle currently priced at USD 800 (about RM 3,479) while Oculus Rift goes for USD 598 (about RM 2,600).
Even though the experience on Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset is closer to a virtual reality headset rather than a pure mixed reality headset as per Microsoft HoloLens, Acer’s headset still runs on the same platform. In fact, Microsoft has generally included virtual reality as part of its mixed reality push alongside augmented reality and pretty much anything within the same spectrum.
For now, it is not known if the headset and controller bundle will be making their way into our market or else. We have reached out to Acer Malaysia for their comment, so we’ll keep you updated once we hear back from them.
