Good news for U Mobile subscribers, you can now enjoy voice-over-LTE calls on the telco. This means that not only do you enjoy better quality calls, you can surf the internet and speak at the same time. U Mobile VoLTE is now available on selected iPhones, and will be coming soon to Android devices as well.
VoLTE, as its name suggests, lets you make calls over the LTE spectrum. You will have “crystal clear” voice quality, much faster call setup, and the ability to use data and voice at the same time when you are connected on U Mobile’s LTE network. There is no additional cost, as long as you are using a compatible device and are connected to U Mobile’s 4G LTE network, you will be able to enjoy VoLTE. Normal call tarrifs for your rate plan still apply, and in case you were wondering, no, it will not consume your data quota.
For now, U Mobile’s VoLTE only supports selected iPhones running on iOS 10.1 and newer. The devices supported includes iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. To activate VoLTE on your iPhone, simply open the Settings app, and tap on Cellular. Under Cellular Data Options, Enable LTE for Voice & Data and you’re good to go.
