Apple looks set to finally lift the veil off its first Apple Store in Singapore. Just a few days ago, the location for the store in Orchard Road was draped with a barricade complete with a facade with three simple symbols: an apple, a heart, and a red dot.
The facade isn’t as cryptic as it looks. It is dubbed “Apple Loves the Little Red Dot”, and pays homage to the country comically nicknamed “the little red dot” due to its geographical size.
Underneath the facade are more of the same three symbols, with each dot is designed differently to feature prominent figures in Singapore’s creative community. There are 12 in total, featuring photographers, film makers, musicians, developers, as well as entrepreneurs. These 12 individuals will also be present at the opening of Apple Orchard Road.
It should also be noted that the store, which will officially be called Apple Orchard Road, will be the first Apple Store in the Southeast Asian region. The Apple Orchard Road was officially confirmed back in November 2015, and a 2016 opening had been planned. However, with the latest teaser from Apple, it looks like Singaporeans will not have much longer to wait – unlike us Malaysians.
