Spotify has just made sharing music with your friends a whole lot easier. The company quietly launched a new Spotify Codes feature that puts a unique barcode and album cover image for every song, artist and playlist. All you need to do is share an image of the song you are listening to with your friend, have them scan the image with the new camera in Spotify app, and they will be brought to the song directly.
Spotify Codes should be available immediately now on your Spotify app. To share a code, simply tap on the three dots button while playing a song. Spotify will show you an image of the album cover, along with a unique barcode at the bottom. To scan your Spotify Codes, simply hit the new camera button on the search bar. You can scan directly with the camera, or select from your camera album.
This definitely makes sharing music a lot easier. Before Spotify Codes, if you wish to share a song with your friend, you will have to send a link to them via a messaging app. With this new update, all you need to do is point your camera at a song, and you’re good to go. This could also allow artists to share their music via Spotify Codes on vinyl stickers instead of just their band name.
