Acer’s performance desktops are receiving a minor (or major, depending on who you ask) update. The Aspire GX series will be available with AMD’s new Ryzen 7 1700X as an option beginning in May.
There’s little other information on the matter, since it seems that Acer is simply giving its customers a choice between Intel and AMD chips. Something that we haven’t seen in a rather long time.
Aside from that, the machines should be the same as they were before. Announced in January, the Aspire GX series desktops are available with both Nvidia and AMD graphics cards. Which means that AMD fans can once again have machines mainly running on hardware from their preferred manufacturer.
There’s no pricing information for the Ryzen powered Aspire GX machines at the moment. It might see a slight price drop compared to the Intel Kaby Lake Core i7; although it may still end up costing more than the Core i5 variant.
