Celcom users, good news: the telco company just announced its plan to roll out “Lightning Fast LTE” in the coming months. Taking advantage of 4-transmit-4-receiver (4T4R) technology, this enables download speeds of up to 400Mbps.
To put things into context, Celcom mention that current 4G speeds peak at up to 300Mbps. Needless to say, Celcom’s Lightning Fast LTE promised speed of up to 400Mbps is very interesting; the company actually played a 4K video without any buffering at the launch event.
However, Celcom did mention that the performance of Lightning Fast LTE will depend on the capability of users’ devices. Among the devices that can take advantage of the improved speeds are Samsung’s Galaxy S8 devices and the Huawei P10 Plus – MIMO-enabled smartphones, basically.
According to Celcom, Lightning Fast LTE has been initiated in the Klang Valley area, and it’s expected to be ready from August 2017 onwards. Of course, it will be gradually expanded to other major cities too.
Interestingly, Celcom also revealed that it will be running a trial on 5G network as early as next month. Unfortunately, the company didn’t elaborate further, but we can expect Celcom to reveal more information in the coming weeks.
