It appears Xiaomi will be announcing something new for the Malaysian market this 27 April. Based on the teaser image posted on the company’s Facebook page – and the caption that follows – we’re likely looking at the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 in Malaysia.
Looking at the silhouette of what seems to be a smartphone in the teaser image, it looks very similar to the Mi Note 2’s design. The caption of the image foreshadows this as well:

Aside from that, we also noticed something very interesting on Lazada: it appears the e-commerce site is expecting the release of the Mi Note 2. In fact, the device is mentioned – and pictured – on Lazada’s mobile app and website. More likely than not, Xiaomi is indeed releasing the Mi Note 2 in our market.
In terms of specifications, the Mi Note 2 is a well-equipped 2016 flagship smartphone. It features a 5.7-inch 1080p dual-curved OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of non-expandable storage, 22.5MP rear and 8MP front-facing shooters, as well as a generous 4,070mAh battery.
Xiaomi Malaysia will officially announce the “mysterious” smartphone this 27 April at 12PM. Considering the fact that Xiaomi initially said the Mi Note 2 will not be available in Malaysia, it’ll be interesting to see if the device will indeed be launched here.
