[Update 26/4/2017] Celcom announced that it’ll start offering free data for Facebook and WhatsApp from 29 April 2017 until 5 May 2017.
Over the long weekend, there was an outage on Celcom that affected users who were trying to access Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. The telco says that data connectivity to these apps has been restored, and that they are regretful for the connectivity problem. They are also providing 1 week of free data on Facebook and WhatsApp to all Celcom subscribers.
Celcom states that they will “confirm the start date on Tuesday, 25 April”. During the week, no internet quota will be deducted for usage on Facebook and WhatsApp. This is applicable for both Celcom Postpaid and Xpax prepaid subscribers.
Celcom says that they are working together with Facebook to upgrade and enhance your experience on all of Facebook’s platforms including Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. They aim to have the upgrades completed by 28 April 2017.
On 22 April 2017, Celcom acknowledged that there were data disruptions on Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. The telco announced a little over a day later saying that service has been restored for the respective apps, however, they are still performing some upgrades, which should be completed by 28 April 2017.
