Back in 2013, Apple started to offer its GarageBand, iMovie, and iWork suite of apps for free to all of those who bought a new Mac or iOS device. Those who haven’t gotten a new device would have to pay quite a hefty price to get those apps, but the restriction is now gone. The Cupertino company is now offering all its iWork and iLife apps for free, so if you’re using an older Mac or iOS device, head onto the App Store now to get apps like iMovie, GarageBand, Pages, Keynote and Numbers now.
The iMovie and GarageBand apps for iOS were previously priced at US$4.99 (RM19.90) each. Pages, Keynote, and Numbers for iOS were priced at US$9.99 (RM39.90) for each individual app. The Mac version of these apps are more expensive – iMovie for Mac used to cost US$14.99 (RM59.90), while each iWork apps for Mac were priced at US$19.99 (RM79.90). GarageBand for Mac had the same price tag as GarageBand for iOS.

If you’ve gotten a new Mac or iOS device since late 2013, chances are you already have access to these apps for free. However, with this update, customers on older devices can now have access to the latest versions of each of these apps at no cost. These apps are free right now, so head onto the respective App Store to try them out now – GarageBand for iOS, iMovie for iOS, Pages, Numbers, Keynote for iOS; GarageBand for Mac, iMovie for Mac, Pages, Numbers and Keynote for Mac.
