Truth to be told, graphics cards is generally one of the biggest components inside one’s PC. However, manufacturers would attempt to make them smaller from time to time to certain degree of success. It is harder to do that on higher performance cards which is why the work that GALAX has done for its new single-slot GeForce GTX 1070 Katana seems rather impressive.
With a thickness of only 16mm, it is not surprising that GALAX has to come out with custom circuit and PCB board to the card. Additionally, the GTX 1070 Katana is also fitted with a custom thermal solution that consisted of cooper-based cooling fins and vapor chamber.
Despite its size, the GTX 1070 Katana which was first showcased at an event in China last December is clocked faster than NVIDIA’s own Founder Edition specifications with a base clock of 1518MHz and boost clock of 1708 MHz. There are no changes done to other parts of the card though but nevertheless, it does perform as per what users might have expected from a GTX 1070.
For now, it is not known whether GTX 1070 Katana will make its way to Malaysia or any other markets outside of China. We will keep you informed if Galax decide to release the card in our market.
