One of the highlight features of the new Samsung Galaxy S8 devices is Bixby, Samsung’s very own digital assistant – there’s even a dedicated button to launch the feature. Well, if you’re not keen to try out Bixby, it’s actually rather easy to customise the button to launch other apps instead.
Thankfully, customising the Bixby button doesn’t require root access, which makes things a lot easier for general consumers. In fact, all you have to do is download a free app called All in One Gestures on the Google Play Store to get started. From there, just follow XDA’s detailed tutorial on how to remap the Bixby button to launch other apps.
Of course, we imagine this isn’t something Samsung will be thrilled about, but customisation is really what makes Android an attractive operating system to many users. On top of that, it’s worth noting that Bixby will only be available in US English and Korean at launch; the ability to customise the Bixby button will definitely be useful to Galaxy S8 users who don’t use these two languages.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will go on pre-order this coming Monday on 11 April in Malaysia; the Galaxy S8 will retail at RM3,299, while the bigger Galaxy S8+ carries a RM3,699 price tag.
