If you’ve been looking forward to Clips, Apple’s latest video editing app for iOS, here it is. You can now download Clips by Apple from the App Store for free. Clips is like a simplified version of iMovies, allowing you to easily edit your videos and directly share them to your favourite social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
Apple announced Clips just last month, along with the launch of red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, 128GB iPhone SE, and a brand new iPad. The app has a simple interface and plenty of fun effects for you to make entertaining videos to share with your friends and family. No complicating tools such as timeline, and tracks; all you need to do is shoot a video from the app, or pick an existing one, mute, adjust the length, reorder the videos, and you’re good to go. You can also add effects such as comic book filter, add animated stickers, and emoji on any photo or video clip.
What makes Clips interesting is a Live Titles effect that lets you create animated effects using just your voice. Just talk and Clips will automatically generate caption as you speak, matching the timing of your voiceover. Sadly, in a brief test, you must enunciate, it doesn’t work with Malaysian slangs, and no, if you take a video of a song, it will not be able to caption that.
It’s not a perfect app, there are still flaws here and there, and the lack of “complicating tools” means that you have less flexibility compared to what you would normally get with full-fledged video editing apps. But if you are just making videos to share with friends, I think Clips is just perfect for that. Check out the App Store now to download Clips by Apple.
