Samsung Malaysia has officially announced the retail prices of its new flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The company also announced that those who pre-order the smartphones will not only receive up to RM900 worth of goodies, they will also receive the phones one day ahead of Malaysian consumers.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+’s will retail for RM3,299 and RM3,699 respectively. This time around, the standout feature is the new Infinity Display, giving a 83% screen to body ratio and an almost bezel-less look. They also have significantly larger displays, at 5.8 and 6.2 inches respectively, even though their bodies are not much larger than today’s standards.
In the performance department, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are equipped with either Samsung’s new Exynos 8895 processor built on the 10nm process, which promises better power efficiency. There’s also 4GB of RAM and 64GB of speedy UFS 2.1 storage, plus a microSD card slot.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 pre order in Malaysia will not include any of the new accessories announced alongside the smartphones such as the Samsung DeX or the new Gear VR. Instead, those who pre-order will receive a limited edition Starter Kit, a 5,100mAh battery pack, and the Samsung Care Plus warranty package.
The Starter Kit consists of a clear cover, screen protector, a wireless charging stand, and an additional USB Type C cable. The Samsung Care Plus package covers electrical and mechanical breakdowns, accidental damage, and an additional one-year extended warranty. Plus, it also has a one year screen crack protection that allows for one time replacement for accidental damage claim.
As mentioned before, the Samsung Galaxy S8 pre order is open only for the three
colours available in Malaysia: Orchid Grey, Maple Gold, and Midnight Black. All successful pre-orders will receive their devices on May 4 2017, a day before everyone else can purchase theirs in retail stores nationwide.
