It has been a while since we heard of a video games festival in Malaysia which is why the announcement of HotShotz 2017 earlier today seems to come right on time. Organized by Digital News Asia (DNA), it is a rather interesting venture by the Malaysian-based outfit who is known to have a very deep focus on the tech ecosystem.
Set to take place in KDU University College from 21 to 23 July, HotShotz 2017 is made of five different components with the first being game showcase involving some of the industry’s well-known publishers. For now, DNA has confirmed two such companies that will be attending the event which include Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Codemasters.
To be presented by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), independent video games developers will also be part of HotShotz 2017. According to DNA, 10 of such developers will be showcasing their creations at the event.
HotShotz 2017 has also aimed to attract PC enthusiasts by having a dedicated PC modding section at the event. In addition to that, cosplayers will also be welcomed to the event as it will be hosting a cosplay competition.
Not to forget, eSports will also be a big segment at HotShotz 2017 which will revolve around seven games including Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, PES 2017 (Winning Eleven 2017), Street Fighter V, and Tekken 7 for PlayStation 4 as well as Counter-Strike, Dota 2, and Overwatch for PC. In fact, DNA has planned to organize qualifying events for HotShotz 2017 in six universities within Klang Valley starting from the end of April.
While it might still be early days for the event, DNA already managed to attract several partners to make the HotShotz 2017 possible including Sony Interactive Entertainment Hong Kong Limited Singapore Branch, MDEC, KDU University College, and Astro. More details regarding the event will be announced through its official website.
