While its black and red colorway managed to infuse some fierce aura to the laptop, we noticed that the HP Omen Gaming Laptop comes with slightly outdated components – particularly the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M – when it was released in Malaysia last November. It took the company a while but things have since changed as it seems that HP Malaysia has released the refreshed version of its Omen laptops.
For starters, the GTX 960M is no longer part of the laptop and has been replaced with GTX 10 Series GPUs instead. Specifically, customers have the option to choose between GTX 1050 or GTX 1050 Ti for their unit.
At the same time, HP has also replaced the laptop’s 6th generation Core i7-6700HQ processor with its direct successor, the 7th generation Core i7-7700HQ chip. In terms of the laptop’s DDR4 RAM, the GTX 1050 model receive 8GB while the GTX 1050 Ti-based model carries slightly more at 16GB.
HP has also changed the laptop’s battery to a 4-cell unit with a capacity of 63.3 Whr. As for other components, the company still retain the 15.6-inch full HD display, 1TB 7200rpm SATA hard drive, and 128GB M.2 solid state drive for the refreshed Omen gaming laptops.
Price-wise, the GTX 1050-based variant can be obtained at RM 5,299 while the GTX 1050 Ti-based model goes for RM 5,899. Both HP Omen laptops are available immediately through HP Malaysia’s online store or alternatively, it is also wise to check with your favorite laptop retailers.
