Lazada turns five years old in Malaysia today, and the e-commerce giant is marking the occasion with an epic three-day sale sitewide. E-commerce sites have recently been slowing down on offering high-value coupon codes, so this may be a good time to find some great deals.
Lazada Birthday Sale
We’ve been trawling through the site to find the best deals from the Lazada birthday sale, and here are the gems we’ve found so far. Since this sale lasts three days, this post will be regularly updated with new stuff, so do check in regularly!
But first, some pointers for those who are new to online shopping. Shopping online is safe, but do keep in mind who the seller is when you’re shopping in marketplaces like Lazada, Gemfive, and 11street. These sites also offer attractive discount codes to further reduce the already low prices – you’ll rarely see prices in physical retail stores to be cheaper.
Oh, and with cashback sites like Shopback around, you can save even more from your purchases.
Now, let’s check out the best deals from the Lazada birthday sale so far (click on the subheaders for direct links to the product page):
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4: From RM703.12
Just launched in Malaysia last week, this is a very attractive price for an already affordable smartphone. Do note that this promotion will only apply when you pay with a Maybank credit or debit card – you get 10% off when buying on the website, or 12% off when you buy via the Lazada app.
But of course, such good deals won’t last long – it might have run out by the time you read this.
Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge: From RM2,099
Given that Samsung has just announced a RM500 discount for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones, we can expect them to be a little lower on Lazada and other e-commerce sites.
For example, here’s an S7 for RM2,099, or for RM100 more you get one with a pretty decent bundle (fast wireless charger stand and a 32GB Class 10 microSD card).
And even though its successor is set to be launched next week, there’s a Galaxy S7 edge for RM2,359.
Microsoft Surface Pro 4: From RM3,299
Another fantastic device from 2016, at its lowest price ever. The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 was the best hybrid laptop from last year, but its steep premium pricing put many off. Well, now it’s a lot more affordable.
Using the “MSFT500” code, you can get the SP4 with Type Cover from just RM3,299 – even lower than the 11.11 Singles Day promotion price in November last year. This code applies to the 8GB/256GB and Core i7 models as well, which we recommend – 4GB RAM is not really enough for most users.
Microsoft Windows 10 Home: From RM439.12
Just got yourself a new gaming PC? Microsoft’s official store is offering genuine Windows 10 at a really steep discount – these go for RM629 in stores. The price above is for payments with Maybank credit or debit cards and via the Lazada app.
OnePlus 3T: RM1,999
The OnePlus 3T is officially available nationwide from today, and after an initial discount on Lazada just a few days ago, the e-commerce site has further dropped its selling price of the popular smartphone.
Now listed at RM1,999, the product page still shows that the RM75 voucher is still available – though we cannot confirm if it is indeed the case. Still, RM1,999 is a pretty good deal compared to the RM2,229 RRP and the earlier discounted price of RM2095.26.
JBL Everest 700 Around Ears Wireless Headphones: From RM491.92 (UPDATE: SOLD OUT)
Targeted for the young and the young at heart, these headphones are not only close to 50% off the RM1,099 RRP, but if you pay via Maybank credit or debit cards you get a further 10%/12% discount, potentially dropping the price to just RM491.92.
Xiaomi Mi Box: From RM307.12
Xiaomi’s Mi Box is another Xiaomi product that was just released in Malaysia this month, and with the Maybank credit or debit card payment, you can buy it for as low as RM307.12 – up to 12% off the RM349 retail price.
Dell S2316H 23″ Full HD IPS Monitor: From RM456.72 (UPDATE: SOLD OUT)
Dell’s range of monitors have always been our preferred monitors of choice, but they’ve usually pricier than the competition. The S2316H is at its lowest price we’ve seen ever, and it packs quite a lot of features for its price. There’s an IPS Full HD panel with ultra-thin bezels as well as integrated dual 3W speakers, allowing you easy plug-and-play access with the HDMI and VGA ports.
Do note that the price above is applicable only for Maybank credit or debit cards and via the Lazada app. But even at RM519, it’s quite a steal for a Dell IPS monitor.
Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2015): RM6,999
The new MacBook Pro may have a ports issue that’s preventing greater adoption of the popular laptop, but the 2015 model is still powerful, and is more affordable than ever.
Take this MacBook Pro 13 for example. Kitted out with a speedy 512GB SSD, there’s plenty of space for video and photo editing. This product listing even bundles in a brand new GoPro Hero 5 for free (RRP: RM1,699), which makes this a crazy good deal – this MacBook Pro configuration typically costs RM7,599.
You could take that GoPro to sell it, and you’re looking at something close to RM2,000 in savings for a productivity machine.
Transcend StoreJet 25MC 1TB USB Type C External Hard Drive: From RM271.92
External hard drives with USB Type C interfaces are usually (1) non-existent, or (2) not economically feasible. Transcend’s StoreJet 25MC aims to remedy both, offering a USB Type C connector on a 1TB external hard drive encased in a mil-spec certified body.
Granted, the hard drive is not connected by “pure” USB 3.1 Type C, as the other end of the cable is a microUSB 3.0 connector, but it is going to be great for laptops that no longer offer USB Type A ports like the new Apple MacBooks.
Plus, you won’t really be paying a huge premium over mainstream 1TB external hard drives either – the USB 3.0 variant goes for RM228.62 after 12% discount.
Western Digital My Passport 1TB External Hard Drive: From RM214.54
Western Digital (WD) produces some of the most reliable hard drives around, and the new range of My Passport external hard drives are now offered at a steep discount as part of the Lazada birthday sale.
Depending on the colour option, the My Passport 1TB drives can go as low as RM214.54 with the 12% Maybank credit/debit card purchase via the Lazada app – almost a 30% discount from the RM299 RRP.
FYI, the 2TB variant is also going for a great price: from just RM350.24 for the yellow colour option.
Samsung 24″ Curved Monitor: RM599
If you’ve always wanted to try a curved monitor, this Samsung 24″ curved monitor won’t break the bank. The VA Full HD 1800R curved panel is great for gaming, with AMD FreeSync support, 60Hz refresh rate and 4ms response time.
At its launch last year, this monitor retails for RM959, but with the “SME200” code you can get it for just RM599.
Newly Added Deals (23/3/2017)
Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum Gaming Mouse: From RM204.16 (UPDATE: DISCOUNT REMOVED)
This may look like a normal Logitech G502 mouse, but don’t be fooled by its appearance. This is the Proteus Spectrum model, which is essentially the same as the G502 Proteus Core model, but with RGB lighting.
When it was first introduced to the Malaysian market, the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum was sold for RM369. Now, you can get the G502 with RGB lighting for almost half the price, but at a warranty of one year lesser – 2 years instead of the standard Logitech 3 years warranty.
LG 29UM57 Ultrawide 29″ IPS LED Gaming Monitor: RM1,045
Want a dual-monitor setup but hate the bezel in the middle getting in the way? Check out this LG Ultrawide monitor we found. The LG 29UM57 gaming monitor has a 29-inch Full HD IPS Ultrawide display with a resolution of 2560 x 1080.
In terms of specifications, it has two HDMI ports, an sRGB screen rating of 99%, VESA mount compliant, and it lets you split the screen into four displays.
TCL TV 55-inch Full HD Smart LED Roku TV: RM1,699
If you need a basic TV but want it in the biggest size possible, here’s the TCL 55-inch TV. It displays 1920 x 1080 resolution, has four HDMI ports, one USB port, and Roku TV built right in.
For RM1,699, it’s at a more affordable price point compared to the other TVs other manufacturers are offering.
Sony Playstation 4 Slim 500GB: RM1,049
That’s right, from the suggested retail price of RM1,399, you can now score yourself a Playstation 4 Slim 500GB model for RM350 off. This might just be the more (if not, the most) affordable way of getting yourself into the world of console gaming.
Do take note that this PS4 Slim is not eligible for use with vouchers, so RM1,049 (24/3/2017 – Now listed at RM1,075) is the final price you will have to pay as shipping is already included.
Razer DeathAdder Chroma Gaming Mouse: From RM175.12
Voted the best gaming mouse for years now, Razer’s DeathAdder has been a staple name amongst gamers worldwide. The highly popular gaming mouse went through several design revisions, although subtle, improved its ergonomics and feel to it.
It now also has Razer’s Chroma lighting system integrated so you can be flashy while you game. However, do take note that adding lights to a mouse will not improve your skills in a game. From its SRP of RM279 to RM175.12, that makes the Razer DeathAdder Chroma a pretty affordable gaming mouse.
