While the release date for Farpoint in United States and Europe have been announced earlier this month, it is only today that we have learned similar details for Malaysia. According to the announcement, the shooter which is exclusively made for PlayStation VR will be coming to our market on 16 May.
Developed by the San Francisco-based Impulse Gear, the first person shooter was first introduced to the world at E3 last year. In the game, players were thrown into an unknown alien planet where they have to go against the planet’s hostile lifeform in order to save scientists that were also stuck in the planet while trying to escape it at the same time.
Meanwhile, a new gun-like controller for PSVR called Aim Controller was also introduced alongside the game. While the game still can be played using DualShock 4 controller, the Aim Controller made the game’s experience more immersive though – based on our brief experience with it at E3 and Tokyo Game Show – thanks to its excellent tracking capability.
However, the availability of the Aim Controller in Malaysia is not known at the moment. As for the game itself, the physical disc version of Farpoint for PS VR will be available for RM 199 while the digital version can be obtained from PlayStation Store for RM 188. Gamers also have the option to pre-order the game through PS Store starting from 24 March onwards at 10% off and will also receive the Red Planet Wanderer Spacesuit Skin as pre-order bonus.
