Unveiled back at CES 2017, the Lenovo Legion gaming laptops have landed in Malaysia. These include the Legion Y520, which features Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti GPUs, as well as the higher-end Legion Y720 with a more powerful GTX 1060 GPU. If you’re a gamer on a budget, these Legion laptops may be worth your consideration.
Let’s start with the more affordable gaming laptop of the two, the Legion Y520. The base model of the Y520 – priced at RM3,299 – comes with an Intel Core i5-7300HQ processor paired with 4GB of DDR4 RAM, a GTX 1050 2GB GDDR5 GPU, as well as a 1TB 5400rpm HDD. A tier up is the RM4,219 model with a faster Core i7-7700HQ processor and beefier GTX 1050 with 4GB of GDDR5 RAM.
If you’re looking for something more powerful, there’s the RM4,919 Legion Y520, which adds a 128GB M.2 PCIe SSD as well as a GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 GPU. Finally, the top-of-the-line model of the Y520 packs a higher capacity 256GB M.2 PCIe, a 2TB 5400rpm HDD, as well as 8GB of DDR4 RAM; this variant retails at RM5,419. It’s worth noting that all variants of the Y520 come with a 15.6-inch 1080p display.
And then we have the Legion Y720. For our market, Lenovo is only bringing in one variant of the Y720 for the time being, and it features a Core i7-7700HQ processor paired with 8GB of DDR4 RAM, a 1TB 5400rpm HDD, and of course, a GeForce GTX 1060 GPU with 6GB of GDDR5 RAM. Unlike the Y520 with a red-backlit keyboard, the Y720 also comes with an RGB keyboard; it supports Razer’s external graphics enclosure too.
Retailing at RM6,099, it remains to be seen if this particular model of the Legion Y720 comes with a 15.6-inch 1080p or 4K display; we’ll update this article once we have confirmation from Lenovo Malaysia. We just got confirmation that this variant of the Y720 comes with a 1080p display. Seems like the Malaysian market won’t be receiving the 4K model in the near future.
All four variants of the Lenovo Legion Y520 are now available for purchase in Malaysia. As for the higher-end Legion Y720, we were told it will reach our shores by the end of this month.
