In our camera shootout, the Huawei P10 proved itself to be a very capable shooter, and DxOMark’s extensive testing of the device’s camera revealed similar results too. Surprisingly enough, however, DxOMark also gave the P10 a higher overall score than the iPhone 7; that’s a pretty impressive feat.
DxOMark’s gave the P10’s camera an overall score of 87, while the iPhone 7 received a slightly lower score of 86. While this isn’t a huge difference, it does show that Huawei’s partnership with Leica is bearing fruit.

When it comes to photo performance, DxOMark noted that the P10 has good exposure in various lighting conditions, even in “extreme low light.” Other than that, the P10’s Leica-branded dual-camera system also has good white balance, texture preservation (even in less than ideal lighting), and accurate autofocus. That being said, DxOMark mentioned that the P10’s autofocus still isn’t quite as fast as its competition.
As for video performance, the P10 has accurate white balance and excellent texture preservation; the same qualities found in stills taken with the device. The camera’s motion stabilisation is also good, coupled with equally good target exposures and dynamic range. However, DxOMark’ noticed that there’s “visible ‘jello’ effect during walking movements in outdoor conditions.”
The Huawei P10 is certainly a capable shooter, and we will give our impressions of the device as a whole in our upcoming review. For those who want to learn more about the P10’s camera performance, DxOMark’s full review can be found here.
