Facebook has already released its own video app on other platforms such as Samsung Smart TV and Apple TV, and the company is back with another one – Facebook 360 for Samsung Gear VR. The social network recently released its own 360-degree app for Samsung Gear VR.
Facebook has been showing 360-degree content for quite some time now. With the new app on the Gear VR headset, the company wants you to have a more immersive experience when viewing these videos and photos. Facebook says that there are over 25 million 360-degree photos and over 1 million 360-degree videos on posted on Facebook to date, and the new Facebook 360 for Samsung Gear VR will make it easier for users to discover these 360-degree contents.
Facebook 360 for Samsung Gear VR has four tabs. The first is “Explore”, which allows you to discover some of the most interesting and popular 360 content from media companies, organisations and individual creators. “Following” will show you content shared from your friends, as well as people and Pages you follow. “Saved” lets you find all the 360 content you’ve saved from your News Feed, while “Timeline” will let you relive your memories in a new way through your own 360 photo and video uploads. You can react to these photos and videos, and share them on Facebook just like you normally would. Facebook says that there will be more features coming soon.
To download the Facebook 360 for Samsung Gear VR, simply open the Oculus app on your Gear VR-compatible Samsung device and search for Facebook 360. Check out Facebook now to find out more about its new app.
