It looks like Facebook is taking another page out of Snapchat’s book. The social networking company recently introduced Snapchat-like geostickers on Instagram Stories.
The feature is currently limited to two cities – New York and Jakarta. With the update, users will be able to adorn their pictures and videos with “more than a dozen new stickers” for each city.To add a geosticker on Instagram, simply snap a photo or video and tap on the sticker icon. Instagram will show you a set of stickers for that city that you are in, be it in New York or Jakarta. You can add as many stickers as you want, then adjust the size and placement of the stickers. Just like the customisable location sticker, people watching your story can tap on the geosticker to see the location page. In case you are wondering about the privacy of your post, Instagram states that your post will not show up in the location page.
The new geosticker feature is available as part of Instagram version 10.11 for iOS and Android, so if you are travelling to these cities, do try it out.
Since introducing the Stories feature back in August 2016, Instagram has been slowly adding in new features to get people to use it more. You can now share live stories, boomerang stories, add more stickers and such. It’s been a while since Facebook acquired popular AR photography app, MSQRD, so let’s hope that they are working on bringing some AR filters to Instagram Stories as well.
