About two weeks ago, Facebook announced that they are working on a video app for set to boxes and smart TVs, and if you’ve been waiting for it, here it is. The social networking company has just launched its Facebook video app for Samsung Smart TVs.
The video app from Facebook is available for Samsung Smart TV models from 2015 onwards. Just head on to the Samsung Smart Hub to download the Facebook video app for Samsung Smart TVs. Just like watching videos on your regular Facebook app and web, you can watch videos shared by your friends or Pages that you like, and search for videos around the world; Facebook will also show you top-streamed videos from Facebook Live. Of course, this means that you will need to log into your Facebook account.
In its previous announcement, Facebook also said that they are working on a dedicated video app for other devices including the Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Xbox One. Sadly though, they did not give a specific timeline but now that the app for Samsung Smart TVs is available, hopefully the launch isn’t too far away. Meanwhile, for the rest of us who do not have a Smart TV from Samsung, I guess you will just have to stream it to the big screen via other devices like the Google Cast.
Facebook has been working very hard on promoting videos on its platform lately. Two weeks ago, the company announced that they will autoplay videos in your News Feed with sound, and just last week, they started inserting ads in the middle of videos.
