At first, it was Instagram, then it was Facebook’s main app and now, Facebook is bringing its Stories-like feature to WhatsApp. The social networking company recently announced that it would revamp its text only status feature on WhatsApp to one that allows you to share pictures and videos.
The feature will be available on your status in WhatsApp. Once you get the update, you can snap a photo or video using the in-app camera, and adorn it with drawings, text and emoji. Just like Story on Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook, the status will be available for 24 hours only. On top of that, you can also reply to friends’ updates directly from the status itself.

The company will be rolling the update out starting from 24 February 2017, WhatsApp’s 8th anniversary. It will be available for WhatsApp on Android, iPhone and Windows Phone. Just in case you’re wondering about security, WhatsApp says that even the status updates are end-to-end encrypted.
There’s no denying that disappearing posts are very popular. Within four months of launching, Facebook announced that 150 million people were using Instagram stories everyday – that’s about the same amount of users that are on Snapchat. With such popularity, it’s no wonder that Facebook is relentlessly working on bringing a similar feature to all of its other platforms.
