If you are hoping to get an iPhone with wireless charging, your dreams might be brought to life this year. Apple has just joined the Wireless Power Consortium, fuelling rumours that Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone this year will come with wireless charging on board.
The Cupertino company is now one of the 213 members in the Wireless Power Consortium. While there is no guarantee that the next iPhone, likely to be called the iPhone 8, will come with wireless charging, the fact that Apple has joined the industry group for wireless power gives us hope that Apple might finally be adopting the technology on its iPhone.
There have been several rumours regarding wireless charging on the iPhone 8. Earlier rumours suggested that Apple is looking into long-range charging so that you can charge up your device without having to place it onto a charging pad, but the most recent rumours are suggesting that they will stick to inductive charging instead. Some rumours are also saying that that wireless charging will not be built into the iPhone 8 itself however, will be sold as an optional accessory at an extra cost.
The iPhone 8 is definitely shaping out to be a very exciting device to look forward to, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that Apple will deliver something special; maybe it will break its financial record again next quarter.
