There’s no shortage of leaks and rumours surrounding Samsung’s upcoming flagship phones. According to the latest one, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will allegedly feature a 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh batteries respectively, which…aren’t very big, especially by today’s standards.
This bit of information was revealed by an unnamed Samsung official, who mentioned that the Korean company decided on these two battery capacities for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus “after completing a range of tests.” According to The Investor’s report, the S8 and S8 Plus will likely pack a large 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch displays respectively too.
If these screen sizes and battery capacities of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are accurate, it may very well be a repeat of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. While they were both excellent phones, their modest battery lives were one of their shortcomings, and the same issue may just plague Samsung’s next flagship phones. After all, a 6.2-inch device with only a 3,500mAh battery does raise a few concerns.
Then again, this is still information unconfirmed by Samsung, so things might change before the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are officially announced. Hopefully, Samsung would bump up the battery capacity of these two devices; the company is expected to unveil the Galaxy S8 series in late March 2017.
