Good news for those of you who are using an older Sony Xperia device including the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z3+, and Xperia Z4 Tablet. Sony has begun rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update for these devices, so check for an update now.
This is not the first time Sony is attempting to update these devices to Android 7.0 Nougat. Just last month, Sony started rolling out the update to these devices however, the update was halted because there were some bugs related to audio playback via third-party apps and SD card encrypted data read performance. It appears that Sony has finally resolved these issues, and is now rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to the listed devices.
The update is available over the air, so open the Settings app on your Xperia device, tap on About Phone and select Software Update. The new firmware has the build number 32.3.A.0.376 and is over 1GB, so make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi.
The new Android 7.0 Nougat Update is version 32.3.A.0.376
The update brings a host of improvements including multi-window support, that allows you to run two apps simultaneously in a new split-screen view, longer battery life, improved messaging app, self-timer button on the front camera, and a smarter home screen with Google Now integration.
