After launching a new variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in India a few weeks ago, it appears the Chinese company is gearing up to launch yet another model of the device in China this month. Dubbed by Xiaomi as the Redmi Note 4X, this new variant may be a slight upgrade over its predecessor.
In the teaser image posted by Xiaomi’s Weibo account, the number “16” is prominently displayed; the caption also mentioned that the company’s new spokesperson – who will be officially introduced on the 8th of February – will bring a “special gift” this Valentine’s Day on 14 February.
Taking all of these into consideration, it’s possible that the Redmi Note 4X will either be launched on the 14th or 16th February. Although the caption mention that Xiaomi’s new spokesperson will unveil a special gift on the 14th, the number 16 displayed prominently in the teaser is hard to ignore too.
As for specifications, many believe that the Redmi Note 4X will merely be an incremental upgrade. For the most part, it will retain many of its predecessor’s hardware, including a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a MediaTek Helio X20 processor, as well as a 4,000mAh battery. Interestingly, rumours are saying that there could be a Snapdragon 653 variant of the Redmi Note 4X too.
Regardless, it’s likely that Xiaomi will give us more information come 8 February later this week; that’s when the company’s new spokesperson will be revealed.
