As what you might have heard or even installed in your own device, the new Android 7.0 Nougat update has been rolled out to Samsung Galaxy S7 edge device in Malaysia. Aside from various tweaks and new features, U Mobile subscribers that owned Galaxy S7 edge will also able to utilize WiFi Calling on it through the update.
We were first notified of this by several readers that have received a SMS notification which stated that WiFi Calling has been enabled for them right after they installed the Nougat update on their Galaxy S7 edge. At the same time, the WiFi Calling icon has then appeared on their Galaxy S7 edge once they activated the feature in the phone settings.
Given the recent Chinese New Year break, it took some time for U Mobile to revert back to us but nevertheless, the telco has today confirmed that the feature is indeed enabled for Galaxy S7 edge through the Nougat update. U Mobile’s official website has also been updated to include Galaxy S7 edge as one of the smartphones in the market that support WiFi Calling which was previously available only on iPhones.
However, the Galaxy S7 edge is the sole Android device in the list at this moment though. As for other Android devices, there is no confirmed roll out schedule for the time being.
