One of Razer’s most popular mechanical keyboards, the Razer BlackWidow Chroma, has been updated with several new nifty hardware. Dubbed BlackWidow Chroma V2, this revised model now comes with a new switch option and a magnetic wrist rest.
The most interesting change with the BlackWidow Chroma V2 is definitely a new switch offering. Previously, this mechanical keyboard comes with either Razer Green or Orange switch, which are both tactile switches. Debuting on this updated keyboard is Razer’s new Yellow switch, which is a linear, silent switch. It also has a “reduced travel distance” so that keys “can be pressed faster than ever before,” as Razer puts it.
Aside from that, the BlackWidow Chroma V2 also comes with a magnetic wrist rest now, which looks very similar to the one found on the Razer Ornata Chroma keyboard. This is a nice addition to the new BlackWidow; the previous model only comes with the keyboard itself.
Despite these new changes, the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2’s price tag remains unchanged: it is now available for purchase on Razer’s Malaysian online store for RM899. Now, this is not an affordable keyboard, but the 80 million keystrokes lifespan of this keyboard’s switches – these include the Green, Orange, and new Yellow switches – may justify its steep asking price.
