2017 is without a doubt is a very interesting and important year for Apple. Ten years ago on 9 January, Steve Jobs announced the company’s first ever iPhone, introducing the device as a three-in-one product – “a widescreen iPod with touch controls, a revolutionary mobile phone and a breakthrough internet communications device.”
Ten years have gone by in a blink of and eye, and the iPhone continues to be one of the most popular smartphone available in the market. Apple boasts that it has sold over one billion units, and the iPhone has inspired new products including the iPad and Apple Watch, and of course, the millions of apps that have become essential to all our lives.
“iPhone is an essential part of our customers’ lives, and today more than ever it is redefining the way we communicate, entertain, work and live.” – Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
So, what’s next for Apple? Since last year, everyone has been hoping that the Cupertino company is reserving something special for its iPhone launch this year. Tim Cook says that they “are just getting started”, and “the best is yet to come”, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that there is indeed something different in stored for the year.
