Even though the Acer Predator series is here to cater demanding gamers out there, Acer still have something to offer for customers that still want to get their game on but at a much affordable level. The new Aspire VX 15 that has just made its world debut at CES 2017 last week is exactly what this group of customers might need.
For a starting price of USD 799 (about RM 3,577), the VX 15 can be obtained with up to Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. Available with up to 16GB DDR4 RAM, the laptop itself is able to support even more RAM – at up to 32GB.
The 2.5kg performance-oriented laptop is also equipped with a 15.6-inch full HD IPS display with up to 51GB solid state drive and 1TB hard drive. Its black and red theme certainly made it looked like a Predator laptop but without the hefty price tag.
Meanwhile, Acer has also introduced its newly refreshed Aspire V Nitro Black Edition which is also another crowd favorite when it comes to performance-oriented laptop. Available with either 17.3-inch and 15.6-inch display, they are available with up to Intel Core i7-7700HQ processors, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card.
Just like the VX 15, both V Nitro Black Edition comes with up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM as well as up to 2TB hard drive. They also comes with either NVMe PCIe Gen 3 or SATA solid state drive. Not enough with that, a fingerprint sensor that supports Windows Hello has also been included on these laptops and customers can choose to have the 17.3-inch model with Tobii eye tracker.
Price-wise, the Aspire V 15 Nitro Black Edition starts at USD 1,199 (about RM 5,368) while the Aspire V 17 Nitro Black Edition goes for USD 1,399 (about RM 6,264) onwards. Of course, customers that still prefer more firepower can look forward for the refreshed Predator 17 X.
It is also certainly something for gamers out there that have been waiting for the laptop to be available with Intel Kaby Lake and Pascal chips as the variant that was released in Malaysia back in August last year was running on previous generation hardware. According to Acer, the refreshed model carries a desktop-grade, overclockable Intel Core i7-7820HK processor alongside NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 and up to 64GB of DDR-2400 RAM.
Spotting a 17.3-inch display with G-SYNC support, users can choose to have either full HD or 4K IPS panel. The laptop will be priced at USD 2,599 (about RM 11,636) onwards when it hits United States this month.
At this moment, Acer has yet to reveal any information regarding the availability of these performance laptops in Malaysia but that being said, we don’t expect the wait to be long though. So, stay tuned.
